Procurement – Supplier Development Engineer

Location: Laguna

Key Responsibilities

  • Accomplish evaluation and recommendation process to Sourcing Specialist for new part/supplier sourcing requirements (Standard Supplier Sourcing Evaluation, S3E).
  • Support Commodity team in identifying high impact suppliers (strategic supplier selection)
  • Deploy Q-plus strategy by conducting desk reviews and lead supplier on site assessment/audit with cross functional team
  • Support reviews and escalation of MO MP&L and SQA engineers for supplier technical issues, capability data and drive variability reduction
  • Conducts supplier training on Q+ compliance, PPAP, Continuous improvement tools and support the development of work plans by the supplier to close compliance issues.
  • Prepares Supplier Development Programs that will elevate suppliers’ quality performance and technical capability.
  • Overall lead for new Supplier Site Assessment, qualification and accreditation using Q-plus tool kit. 
  • Lead the coordination with suppliers for Q+ self-assessment, desk reviews and on-site assessment/audit with cross functional team.
  • Performs Q+ endorsement, reinstatement (as required), and makes recommendations on candidates for Q+ status (suspended, certified, probationary)
  • Recommend and provide capability assessment to Sourcing Specialist via Supplier Sourcing Standard Evaluation (S3E)
  • Work with Cross Functional teams but  not limited to Strategic Sourcing, Operational Procurement, RD&E engineers and local suppliers to source commodities for Cost Reduction and Supply Security
  • Plan, schedule, and execute on-site visits for identified Critical/Bottleneck suppliers in conjunction with SQA in focus suppliers.
  • Provide recommendations for supplier audit compliance issues closure and continuous improvements. Manage overall vendor performance.
  • Lead component level qualification with collaboration with SQA and R&D/CPE Engineers.
  • Handle new/revision Parts Component Level Validation and Qualification process via Production Part Approval Process (PPAP)
  • Conduct Supplier Parts Capability and Capacity Planning & Verification at supplier site
  • Point of contact for supplier-initiated changes as per Supplier Change Request (SCR) Process
  • Responsible for ensuring completeness of requirements and compliance of supplier to PACS
  • Lead Passport Protocol for supplier engagement
  • Conduct project launch readiness reviews at supplier site for new/unique items
  • Establish PSW level and disposition of PPAP packages as required
  • Work with 3PL/local/imported suppliers to develop parts on time and with quality to support new project launches.

Requirements

  • College Graduate; preferably Industrial/Mechanical/Electrical/Electronics Engineering
  • Training as internal auditor for ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and in purchasing/supply chain function as Supplier development;
  • Preferably Certified internal auditor (ISO 9001,14001) with Automotive experience for preparing and reviews with customers on PPAP and APQP documents
  • Professional experience in procurement/sourcing, supplier development/management and conducting Classroom trainings


SD Engineer serves as the single point of contact for assigned supplier sites, accountable for site performance for new product launch and to manage Supplier Selection, Qualification and Cross Functional buy off.

SD Engineer will lead Passport Protocol Supplier Engagement Process by ensuring Capability and Capacity compliance to Product Solutions Division specific guidelines. Thus, drive supplier continuous improvement and support Operating system alignment wit the supplier.
SD Engineers are responsible for supplier development to be self-reliant supplier that provides outstanding delivery performance, world class quality, exceptional customer satisfaction and continuous improvements thru deployment of Q plus requirements and monitor Qplus attainment status.
